Authorities recover body of Chenoa Nickerson who vanished in Grand Canyon after flash flood

A woman's body has been found in the Grand Canyon after she went missing during a flash flood.

Chenoa Nickerson, a 33-year-old woman from Arizona, was last seen on Tuesday, August 20. She had been hiking in the Grand Canyon National Park when a sudden flash flood swept her away. Search and rescue teams had been looking for her since then.

On Sunday, August 25, Nickerson's body was discovered by a group of people who were rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. They noticed something in the water and alerted the park rangers.
When the rangers arrived, they recovered Nickerson's body and brought it back to the top of the canyon by helicopter. The body was then taken to a medical examiner's office to be identified.

Flash floods are a serious danger in the Grand Canyon. They can occur quickly and without warning, especially during the summer months. Hikers are always advised to be aware of the weather and to avoid hiking in areas that might be prone to flash floods.

The death of Chenoa Nickerson is a tragic reminder of the dangers of the Grand Canyon. It is also a reminder of the importance of being prepared and cautious when exploring the great outdoors.
