Washing hands with soap and water:
Strong Nails, Happy Hands
Your nails are like little flags for your hands. They show how well you take care of yourself. Nice nails make you look good and feel good. But sometimes, nails can get hurt or look bad. Don't worry, there are easy things you can do to keep your nails healthy and strong.
Keep Them Clean
- Wash your hands often: Soap and water are your friends. Wash your hands after using the bathroom, touching animals, or being outside.
- Trim your nails: Use nail clippers to cut your nails straight across. This helps stop them from breaking.
- File gently: Use a nail file to smooth the edges of your nails. Don't file too much or you can hurt your nails.
- Cuticle care: The skin around your nails is called cuticles. Don't cut them. Just push them back gently with a soft stick.
Be Kind to Your Nails
- Wear gloves: When you do chores like washing dishes or cleaning, wear gloves to protect your nails.
- Stop biting: Biting your nails is bad for them. Try to find something else to do with your hands when you feel like biting.
- Use nail polish carefully: If you like to paint your nails, use a good base coat and top coat. Remove polish gently with nail polish remover.
- Moisturize: Use hand cream to keep your hands and nails soft.
Eat Healthy
- Strong nails from the inside: Eating healthy foods helps your nails grow strong. Eat lots of fruits, vegetables, and protein.
- Drink water: Water helps keep your whole body healthy, including your nails.
When to See a Doctor
If your nails are really bad, like they are yellow or have white spots, see a doctor. They can help you figure out what's wrong and how to fix it.
Remember, taking care of your nails is easy. With a little effort, you can have strong, beautiful nails that you're proud of.
